The 4th of July is known as Independence Day in the United States. July 4, 1776, is the day when the 13 original colonies of the United States adopted the Declaration of Independence. From 1776 until present day we celebrate July 4th as the birth of American Independence.

- The Declaration of Independence was drafted by Thomas Jefferson
- It was voted on July 2nd,1776 but not adopted until 2 days later
- The Declaration of Independence was signed at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA
- Both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson signed the Declaration of Independence and later died on July 4, 1826. 50 years after the Declaration of Independence was adopted.
