Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 Package active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup warm water (110 to 115 degrees)
- ½ cup warm milk (110 to 115 degrees)
- ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 4 ½ to 5 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon, more or less to your taste
- ¼ cup butter or margarine, very softened
- Optional, (You can add 2 tablespoons of baking cocoa filling)
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- ¼ teaspoon maple flavor (can use vanilla extract if you do not like maple)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Add the milk, butter, sugar, salt, egg and 1 ½ cups flour.
- Beat on medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes or until smooth.
- Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
- Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6 to 8 minutes.
- Place in greased bowl, turning once to the grease top.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled about 1 hour.
- Then knead onto a floured surface and roll into a rectangle.
- Then put butter to about ½ inch of edge.
- Roll up with filling and cut ½ inch onto a greased baking sheet.
- Let rise for 1 ½ hours.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes until well browned
- Sprinkle the rolled out and buttered dough with the each of the filling ingredients, before rolling up (Step 10)
- In a bowl combine confectioners’ sugar: maple and enough milk to achieve desired consistency.
- Makes about ½ cup, double recipe if you want more glaze on rolls.
- *You can substitute milk with orange juice, plain water, or lemon extract. Use what you like.
