Ingredients

  • Bread!
  • 3 ½ cups to 3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package regular or quick acting yeast
  • ½ cup very warm water
  • ½ cup very warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • Topping!
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 package of taco seasoning
  • 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can refried beans
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 2 cups cheese, grated, use sharp cheddar or fiesta blend
  • 1 to 2 cups butter flavored Crisco, or vegetable oil. For frying

Instructions

  1. Bread!
  2. Mix 2 cups of the flour, sugar, shortening, salt, and yeast in a medium bowl.
  3. Add warm water and war milk and egg.
  4. Beat on low speed on medium speed for 1 minute, scrapping the bowl frequently.
  5. Stir enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.
  6. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface.
  7. Knead about 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
  8. Place in greased bowl and turn greased side up. Cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 hour or doubled. (Dough is ready if indentation remains when touched.)
  9. Punch down dough. Make into balls and pat out like a pizza the size of your frying pan, or a smaller saucer size.
  10. Topping!
  11. In a large frying pan, cook beef until no longer pink, DRAIN.
  12. Add the taco seasoning and ¼ cup of water, simmer. When most of the liquid is gone add in the can of refried beans.
  13. Stir to keep warm.
  14. Put onions in its own bowl, and tomato, and onions, and cheese. Like a buffet.
  15. In a separate frying pan, heat oil(I use buttered flavored Crisco) Pat dough into patties and fry in hot oil until brown on both sides. Drain on paper towel.
  16. Top with first the refried beans, beef mixture, then cheese, onion, tomatoes, black beans, lettuce, and any other toppings you desire on a taco. Enjoy.
