Cooking Lumpia with Mama Pearl. Lumpia is a Filipino egg roll. This type of lumpia is fried, fresh lumpia is another favorite. Depending on the region the lumpia can be very different.

Ingredients

    Filling
  • 1lb ground pork or add ½ cup baby shrimp
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 1 small carrot shredded or cut into little tiny strips
  • 3 cloves garlic- finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce (Toyo) or just use salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • Cornstarch Paste
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water or 1 egg beaten

Instructions

    Filling
  1. Combine all ingredients, mix thoroughly.
  2. You can cook some before or put it raw into wrappers, your choice.
  3. Put a tablespoon of filling, one inch from the edge of spring roll wrapper
  4. Seal with cornstarch paste.
  5. Cornstarch Paste
  6. Dissolve 2 tablespoons Cornstarch in either 1/4 cup water or 1 egg beaten.
  7. Cooking the Lumpia
  8. Deep fry in oil 375 degrees until light brown. Approximately 3 minutes.
  9. Drain on paper towel.
  10. Serve with sweet sour sauce or vinegar, soy sauce and garlic dip.
